The Voyage to the Heart of the Amazon is a 7 day cruise from Manaus, Brazil. The expedition cruise is for travelers who have a passion for adventure and exploration, a love of nature, and wish to go far, far into the rainforest.
The Motor Yacht Tucano explores a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site and goes farther into the wilderness than any other tour in the whole Amazon. It is the most active, detailed, and exciting exploration of the Amazon rainforest.
We begin our Voyage to the Heart of the Amazon in Manaus, Brazil. We voyage north on the Rio Negro to the Rio Apuaú.
In our well equipped expedition boat The Motor Yacht Tucano, we explore far up the least inhabited river in the Amazon, The Rio Negro.
We explore the forest by foot or in our launches, go for swims in the cleanest water in the world, visit with local settlers that live deep in the forest, and spend a great deal of time hunting for and observing the greatest collection of wildlife on earth.
Another day exploring the Rio Negro. We explore the forest by foot or in our launches. Enjoy swims in the cleanest water in the world. Visit with local settlers that live deep in the forest, and spend a great deal of time hunting for and observing the greatest collection of wildlife on earth.
We arrive at extraordinary river called the Rio Jauaperi and spend the day in this unspoiled and lovely rainforest area.
Today we will voyage to the west side of the Rio Negro and continue to scout in our launches and walk in the forest. We will explore areas rarely visited by anyone else.
Tonight, river depth permitting, will explore an east bank of the Rio Negro. After our nocturnal exploration we return to the ship for a “Caipirinha” and a samba on the top deck. (BLD)
We begin the day with a dawn wildlife excursion for one last time into the forest. In the mid-afternoon we journey downstream to arrive at the “Encontro das Aguas”. Where the brown Amazon and the black Rio Negro join in a turbulent maelstrom.
At sunset we anchor north of the City of Manaus. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner. (BLD)
