Sea lions share the beach with people so it's common see the puppies playing and swimming. Next we visit the Breeding Center Jacinto Gordillo,. San Cristobal island has endemic species such as: The Mockingbird Nesomimus Melanotis, lava lizard, Chatham Leaf-toed Gecko and tortoises.
This area is great for spotting blue-footed boobies, albatrosses and Nazca boobies. The famous attraction is the magnificent blowhole, spurting water high into the air at least from 50 to 75 meters high.
Located on the north-eastern coast of Hood, Gardner Bay offers an excellent beach to relax, swim and even kayak, plus the opportunity to observe sea lions . Here we can also observe sharks in the crystal clear ocean waters.
You can see three species of Darwin finches. The large-billed cactus finch, the small-beaked ground finch and the singing finch. Both resident and migratory birds are observed.
There are various species of shorebirds to observe as well as flamingos. The most frequent are common stilts, white checked pintail ducks and other migratory birds.
Historically, this is the location of a wooden barrel that was placed in the 18th century to be used as a post office. Next we visit Baroness Bay by Kayak. We will explore the inlets where seabird nesting sites and sea lion colonies can be found.
Enjoy amazing views from the Sea Star sundeck covering the scenery from Enderby islet to Post office bay, Cerro Pajas, the pool of flamingos and wide forest of Palo Santo.
Home of a number of endemic species like the Galapagos Hawk, Galapagos snake, Galapagos mockingbird and land Iguanas. You will be in contact with one of the many sea lion colonies. Snorkel with playful sea lions and tropical fish.
Throughout the island we may see several hybrid iguanas, a result of crossing a male marine iguana and a female land iguana, they are unique, recognizable at first glance by their gray color. The big population of iguanas is given due to the presence of tunas, their favorite food, which encourages reproduction and adaptation.
Despite the tremendous surf that can pound the outer shore, sea lions haul out onto the beach and can be found bodysurfing. Watch your step, as the boobies nest here. The trees are dotted with male frigate birds in full courtship display. There's a circular path that takes you through the island to a beautiful, rocky shore where the waves crash. This truly is one of the most varied and interesting experience you will live through.
These two small beaches are found to the West of Turtle Cove. Their sand is made of decomposed coral, which makes it white and soft, making it a favorite nesting site for sea turtles. Behind one of the beaches there is a small brackish water lagoon, where it is occasionally possible to observe flamingos and other coastal birds, such as black-necked stilts and whimbrels.
This is a small islet with a big population of sea lions. You can also observe several species of shorebirds. This site offers great snorkeling and swimming. Along the rocks are commonly running Red Lava crabs or Sally lightfoot crabs.
Then transfer to Baltra Airport for flight back home.
