ITINERARY
Day 1 Thursday. Istanbul.
Arrival and transfer to hotel. Welcome briefing. Rest of the day free.

Day 2 Fri : Istanbul Full day tour to include some of the most famous tourist sites: the Topkapi Palace (excluding harem), the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, the majestic St. Sophia, the symbol of ancient Byzantine, and the colorful Grand Bazaar. Optional : Dinner with belly dancing entertainment. (B)

Day 3 Sat : Gallipoli - Dardanelles - Canakkale
Drive to GALLIPOLI, through the European lands of Turkey. Visit Anzac Cove and Lone pine cemetery, Chunuk Bair all famed WWI sites, then across the Dardanelles Strait to the Asian side by ferryboat to Canakkale for overnight (B,D)    

Day 4 Sun : Troy - Pergamum - IZMIR
Visit the ancient TROY of Homer, see its legendary walls and the replica of the wooden horse. Before arriving into Pergamon, enjoy lunch with locals in a traditional local village.  Continue to Pergamum where we will visit the remains of the ancient Medical Center Asclepion, the earliest known hospital in the world. Continue on to Izmir for overnight.(B,D, L)

Day 5 Mon : Ephesus & St. Mary's House - Izmir
Leave for EPHESUS, cradle of early Christianity considered the best preserved Greek-Roman city in the world. We will see the streets made of marble, the famous library of Celsius, remains of temples, the Odeon and other public buildings. Continue on to the top of the nearby hill to visit the HOUSE where the VIRGIN MARY spent the last years of her life. Visit a rug factory to view a demonstration of this typically Turkish art and craft.  Optional dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Izmir. (B)

Day 6 Tue : Izmir - Pamukkale
Drive through a fertile valley's to  Pamukkale to view its white lime cascades where pure white travertine forms frozen waterfalls. We will also visit Hierapolis, the noted Roman spa where ancient Romans used to find healing in the mineral waters. You will have a chance to swim in the thermal spring pool of your hotel. Overnight at a spa hotel in Pamukklae. (B,D)

Day 7 Wed : Pamukkale -Bodrum
Morning departure for Bodrum a bustling resort on the Aegean sea surrounded by an enchanting bay. It is the famed location of the former Mausoleum of Halicarnassos, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, as well as the birthplace of Herodotus, the "Father of History". Free time to stroll around the beachfront wiht it many cafes, restaurants and piers with docks of wooden boats. You might want to visit in the afternoon Bodrum castle, a late Medieval stronghold of the Kingts of St John or just absorb the maritime scenes and sounds in the lovely bay. Overnight in Bodrum (B)

Day 8 Thu : Bodrum - Kos
Today is a free day for leisue or optional excursion to the nearby Greek island of Kos. Dinner and ovbernight in Bodrum (B,D

Day 9 Fri : Bodrum -Antalya
This morning departure to the ancient Hellenic-Roman city of Termessos situated at a high elevation  surrounded by steep mountians. Due to its isolated locattion the place has a special athmosphere of Antiquity and is considered once of the best preserved anceint archeological sites in Turkey. Arrival in Antalya, center of the Turkish riviera with year round sunshine. Dinner and overnight in Antalya. (B,D)
 

Day 10 Sat: Perge –Aspendos- Antalya
According to the geographer Strabon, Perge has been founded by Akhas who came down here after the Trojan wars. Perge was first mentioned in 334 BC when Alexander the Great passed through here. In the following years, Perge went under the control of Pergamon when the Kingdom of Pergamon became a part of the Roman city. Especially in the first and the second centuries BC, Perge became one of the richest towns in Pamphylia. Departure for Aspendos and visit the famous theatre in Aspendos considered the best preserved theatre of antiquity in the world. Return to Ant,lya, afternoon free for own activities. Dinner and overnight in Antalya. (B,D)

Day 11 Sun: Antalya- Konya-Cappacocia
Early departure after breakfast for Konya to visit the  Mevlana Mausoleum of a Sufi mystical philosopher of Islam. The mausoleum was also the  the dervish lodge of the Mevlevi order, known as the order of the Whirling Dervishes. Continue on to Cappadocia with a stop en route at the 13th century Agzikarahan caravansary. We alos pay a visit to one of the famous underground cities of  Sarhatli built for protection from intruders with its several stories deep tunnels, corridors, halls, kitchens, stables and wine making rooms. Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia. (B,D)

Day 12 Sun : Cappadocia
Early Morning Optional: Balloon Tour. Experience of floating through volcanic valleys, fairy chimneys and caves with the sunrise of Cappadocia. After breakfast, visit Goreme with its small hidden Byzantine chapels, Avanos pottery village, Pasabagi, Red Valley, with its beehive dwellings, monasteries carved in tufa and mushroom-like rock formations. We will have a brief regional pottery workshop in a cave. Local dinner in a restaurant and overnight in Cappadocia. Tonight optional: Whirling Dervishes performance.(B,D)  

Day 13 Mon : Cappadocia – Ankara
Morning departure for Ankara and drive trough the Salt Lake area. Afternoon tour of the Anatolian Civilizations Museum with it world famous Hittite exhibition and other remains of varied Anatolian cultures dating back to pre-historic settlements to 8000 B.C.Dinner at a spcial local restaurant in Ankara, then accommodation. (B,D)

Day 14 Tue : Ankara - Istanbul
After breakfast drive to Istanbul,. Afternoon Optional: half day Bosphorus Cruise on the strait that separates Europe from Asia with many wooden villas, Ottoman palaces, gardens and cafes decorating both shores. We will also include a visit to the Spice Market for some last minute shopping. Tonight enjoy a  farewell dinner. (B,D)
