ITINERARY
Day 1 AMSTERDAM
Embarkation starts at 4 in the afternoon. Enjoy a welcome cocktail party before dinner followed by a Shanty Choir performance. The ship remains moored overnight in Amsterdam.
Day 2. AMSTERDAM - HOORN
Amsterdam is a paradise for the art and culture lovers with its extensive choice of museums and places of international interest and one of the city's greatest attraction is cruising through its canals. Our sightseeing tour will cover the major sights and a canal cruise. For these cruises only we also include a visit to the Amsterdam flower  market.

In the afternoon join a tour to the Northern part of Holland to visit the old fishing village of Volendam with its typical houses, windmills and people dressed in traditional costumes. We will visit a local cheese farm where you can taste the different varieties and the secrets of cheese makers will be explained.  Continue to the old merchant town of Hoorn an important trade center in the 16th and 17th centuries on the shores of  Western Europe's largest lake. It was Europe's gateway for imported exotic items like silk, spices and other precious products that arrived on the shores by the merchant ships of the powerful Dutch East India Company. Walking through the historic center of Hoorn, followed by the ride back to the ship and sail to our next destination, Arnheim.

Day 3 ARNHEIM
Arrive in Arnheim, brekfast on board, then choose between two excursions. On the “Arnhem and the Open Air Museum” excursion you drive through the town of Arnhem, where the World War II “Market Garden” parachute landings and the battle for the bridge took place, giving the town a melancholy fame. Then continue to a charming  Open Air Museum, located in beautiful scenery on the town’s outskirts. This museum displays more than 80 historic houses, farmhouses and mills from all over the Netherlands.
Alternatively you can take the “Arnhem & World War II History” excursion, which also includes a tour of the town and an inside visit of the Hartenstein Airborne Museum.  Originally the building was a hotel but in September 1944 it became the headquarters of the British commander-in-chief, Major General Roy Urquhart of the 1st Airborne Division. From here, Urquhart commanded Operation Market Garden – a dramatic battle in which 92 Polish, 1,482 British and more than 1,800 German troops, along with almost 1,000 civilians, lost their lives. In the evening the cruise departs to Middelburg.

Day 4. MIDDELBURG
Arrive in Middelburg at noon, the capital of the Dutch province Zeeland. A town was seriously damaged during the Second World War, dominated by the 55-metre high belfry of the medieval town hall. In the afternoon you can choose between 2 excursions. The walking tour of Middelburg to enjoy the medieval atmosphere of this town or an other excursion to take you to the Deltaworks project located at Neeltje Jans. This is an amazing example of how the Dutch have truly tamed the environment in which they live. This expansive series of dams was built to protect the area against flooding and high tides. Several original windmills still stand on the outskirts of town, representing another innovative technology of a bygone era. During dinner we sail from Middelburg.

Day 5. GHENT - BRUGES
Arrive in  Ghent in the early morning. The  important port an center of the textile industry since the middle Ages. The old town center has retained its medieval charm and contains many historic buildings. During the optional city tour visit the old town center with its medieval charm and its historic buildings. In the afternoon join the optional Bruges sightseeing tour which is like a journey back in time to medieval Flanders. The old craft of the "bobbin" – a tapestry skill that has become very rare - has been cultivated in the "Beginenhof" (nunnery) in Bruges since the middle of the 13th century. You will see the "Pulverturm", the town hall with its wonderful facade, and a Madonna by Michelangelo in the magnificent "Liebfrauenkirche". Later this afternoon there is time to explore Ghent on your own, before the ship casts off again.

Day 6. ANTWERP - BRUSSELS
Early morning the ship docks in Antwerp, the second-largest city in Belgium and one of the biggest ports in Europe. It was a great center for the arts in the Renaissance period, and Rubens and Van Dyck both lived and worked here. Some of their masterpieces can be seen in the massive Gothic cathedral. The main square of Antwerp, the Grote Markt, is surrounded by fine Renaissance buildings including the 16th-century town hall. During the city tour discover some details. Over recent years traffic has been banned from much of the city center, and trams have been diverted into subways, making it a most pleasant city for strolling and shopping. There’s plenty of time in the afternoon to explore this city on your own or to join our Brussels excursion to the Belgian capital, where you can photograph the famous "Mannekin Pis" and the buautiful Granfd Place markets square with it authentic gilded Flemish houses and late medieval town hall. Tonight join the Capitains Gala dinner and the splendid ship’s orchestra, which has been entertaining you in the Panorama bar throughout the cruise.

Day 7  ROTTERDAM - KINDERDIJK - KEUKENHOF

Today we return to the Netherlands, to an other port city - Rotterdam. This vibrant city has a strong maritime history as well as bold, modern, architecture. Join the city tour and view this bustling city of modern architecture as well as the old Market Hall. Nearby, the historic windmills of Kinderdijk are a good example of the rich history of the Netherlands and are in contrast to the modern city.On the city walk of Kinderdijk you’ll see Holland’s largest concentration of working windmills.
This afternoon we will visit the world famouse Keukenhof Flower Gardens. This beautiful park features more tulips in flower than anywhere else in the world. Over 7 million bulbs are planted here annually, with visitors from around the world coming to explore the 9-and-a-half-mile network of footpaths, including the largest sculpture park in the Netherlands. Keukenhof’s flower displays consist of millions of flowers displayed to artistic perfection in one of the world's most beautiful and famous flower parks. Nowhere else in the world are spring flowers and colors as glorious as they are at Keukenhof. This beautiful park offers relaxation and inspiration in equal measure and is one of the most photographed places in the world. Later this evening, the vessel sets off for its final port of call - Amsterdam.
