ITINERARY Budapest to Paris or in reverse Paris to Budapest

Day 1 Day 1 ARRIVE IN BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
Independent arrival in Budapest and check-in to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for own activiires to eplorer the city often called: "The Queen of the Danube".

Day 2 BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
Today's city tour includes sightseeing in both the Buda and Pest side of the city. The tour also includes the Fisherman’s Bastion, Royal Palace, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and Heroes’ Square. Visit Buda Castle form where you can marvel a scenic view of both banks of the river connected by several arching bridges. Your  (B)
Day 3 BUDAPEST - EMBARKATION
Free morning then transfer to your 5 star ship for a spectacular 14 day cruise across Europe. At the welcome dinner meet your cruise director, crew and fellow passengers At night we depart towards the Slovakian capital, Bratislava. (B,D)

River Cruise Across Europe Budapest to Paris

Day 4 BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA
Arrival Bratislava, where you will have two choice for shore excursions. The first option is a walking tour of the city’s major sites, including the Old Town Hall, the stunning Mirbach Palace, and St. Martin’s Cathedral. An othe option is to embark on a Communist History tour that includes such architectural landmarks as the Radio Building, Liberty Square and the Soviet War Memorial. The ship departs late tonight for Vienna. (B,L,D)

Day 5 VIENNA, AUSTRIA
This morning, you will have at the elegant city of Vienna, former capital of the once powerful Astro-Hungarian Empire whre you can marvel elegant avenues and Baroque places. You will have options of  different city tours. Iif it is your first time in Vienna we recommend the panoramic tour of Vienna that guides you past the majestic Opera House, the former Imperial Palace of the Habsburg Emperors, Parliament, Town Hall and Vienna University. Afterwards, you will visit Vienna’s historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Graben and the world famous Spanish Riding School. The second option is a walking tour of  hidden Vienna with its Art Nuveau buildings.. Your third option is a guided bike tour along the Danube and through the Donaupark. This afternoon, you can join a guided bike ride to Klosterneuburg Monastery, or explore at your leisure and try the famous pastry creations at a Viennese cafe. (B,L,D)

Day 6 DÜRNSTEIN - MELK
Early this morning, you will arrive in the Wachau Valley and have a walking tour of Dürnstein with the castle ruins where the English king, Richard the Lionhearted spent his time in captivity after returning from the Crusades. As you wander down medieval cobblestoned streets, you will see 16th-century town houses, wine taverns, and the magnificent blue facade of the Baroque Stiftskirche. Your tour will also include a wine tasting at a local tavern. The ship arrives in Melk late this afternoon, where you will tour the city’s spectacular Abbey, one of Europe’s largest Baroque monasteries a UNESCO site. We sail towards Linz tonight. (B,L,D)

Day 7 LINZ - PASSAU, GERMANY
This morning the ship arrives in Linz, where you will have the choice of two different excursions. The first is an optional excursion to Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace, where you will take a walking tour of the historic center now known to millions as the setting for the “Sound of Music.” Alternatively, remain on the ship and cruise through scenic Upper Austria to Passau. Located where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube, this 2,000-year-old city is noted for its gothic and Italian baroque architecture. A late afternoon walking tour of Passau will take you along the cobblestone streets of Old Town where you will see the city fortifications and St. Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the largest pipe organ in Europe. The ship cruises overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 8 REGENSBURG
In the early afternoon arrive in Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Again you will have the option of  two different tours.  The first is a guided walking tour of this medieval city to see the Old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 A.D.; or visit the Audi Factory in Ingolstadt, where a member of the Audi team will take you on a guided tour of the Audi Museum or the fabled production line (subject to availability).The ship departs after dinner. Day 9 KELHEIM – NUREMBERG
Enjoy a morning of scenic cruising through the Main-Danube Canal and the beautiful Altmühl Valley. This afternoon, you will learn about the medieval history of Nuremberg location of the famous trial after the Second World War and also a medieval city of  utmost importance with its  900-year-old ramparts. Visit the Imperial Castle and Old Town Hall. As an alternative, choose the “World War II History” tour that focuses on Nuremberg’s role as the former headquarters of the Third Reich. You will see the infamous Zeppelin field once used to hold Nazi rallies and the Justice Palace courtroom (when open to the public) where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. The ship moors overnight in Nuremberg. (B,L,D)

Day 10 NUREMBERG - MUNICH
Today, you will travel by train to Munich, the capital of Bavaria and one of Germany’s largest cities. Free time to explore one of Germany's most important cities followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the ship docking at Nuremberg. The ship cruises overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 11 BAMBERG
This morning you will arrive in the medieval town of Bamberg, where you will enjoy a walking tour of this picturesque town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the cathedral, the Old Town Hall that straddles the river, and serpentine streets lined with charming houses. Sample some of Bamberg’s famous smoked beer at lunchtime. This afternoon, we continue down the Main River en route to Schweinfurt, arriving this evening. The ship will cruise overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 12 KITZINGEN - WÜRZBURG
After breakfast join the walking tour of Kitzingen, you’ll see the town’s famous 13th-century Leaning Tower, the Old Main Bridge, Kitzingen Church and the Renaissance Town Hall. Later, the city Council and their honorary Wine Queen will welcome you to Germany’s oldest wine cellar where you will taste several different wines and learn about region’s wine-making history. This afternoon, take a guided tour of  Baroque Würzburg showing you all of the major sights or visit the Residenz Palace and gardens, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, or you can join an optional tour to medieval Rothenburg, a beautiful walled city capital of the famed German Romantic Road. Rejoin the ship in Wurzberg and continue cruising overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 13 WERTHEIM
This morning, you will have a guided walking tour Wertheim, a quaint German town known for intricate glassworks and charming medieval architecture. After lunch, the ship will cruise towards Mainz. (B,L,D)

Day 14 MAINZ - RÜDESHEIM - KOBLENZ
In Mainz again you will have the option of choosing between two shore excursion. One is a walking tour of the city, where you will visit the famous Gutenberg Museum with the words very first printing press and the first printed Bibles. Early this afternoon, arrive in Rüdesheim and visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses a great collection of robotic and self-playing musical instruments from the 18th-20th centuries. If you wish, you can take an excursion to Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest university town, where you will visit Heidelberg Castle and its Great Vat, and also have a walking tour of thr old town housing one of Europe's oldest universities. Returning back to the ship continue our scenic cruise through the Rhine River Gorge, passing by medieval castles and castle ruins to the infamous Lorelei Rock from where the legendary maiden lured sailors into their demise. Arrival at Koblens at the confluence of the Moselle river where we will join a  a walking tour. The ship will depart again around midnight. (B,L,D)

Day 15 COCHEM - ZELL
Today, visit the village of Cochem with its many half timbered houses adorned by geranium windows and nestled in the Mosel Valley wine growing area. Walk along narrow cobblestone streets lined and take a guided tour of hilltop Reichsburg Castle, which offers spectacular views of the mellow river below. This evening, the ship continues on to Zell, where the town’s Mayor and Wine Queen await you with a welcoming wine festival. The ship moors overnight in Zell. (B,L,D)

Day 16 ZELL - TRIER - LUXEMBOURG
After a free morning in Zell, the ship will cruise to Trier, the most important ancient Roman city beyond the Alps, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guided tour will reveal the area’s rich Roman history, See the old Roman amphitheater, Roman Baths, Basilica of Constantine and the Porta Nigra gate, dating back to 180 A.D. This evening, the ship cruises to Luxembourg still and independent duchy in Europe. (B,L,D)

Day 17 LUXEMBOURG - DISEMBARKATION - PARIS, FRANCE
This morning disembark from the ship and those of you continuing to Paris will have a panoramic tour of this Grand Duchy as you are transferred to its capital, and stop en route to see the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, final resting place of U.S. General Patton. In the city of Luxembourg, you will have a guided walking tour and free time for lunch on your own before boarding a TGV high-speed train to Paris. Arrive mid-afternoon and check in to your hotel. An optional Montmartre & Illuminations tour. (B)

Day 18 PARIS
Join a guided panoramic tour of Paris to view the most famous sights including the Champs Élysées, Place de la Concorde, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. The remainder of the day is yours to explore this beautiful city on your own. Enjoy an optional “Parisian Cabaret at Paradis Latin” dinner show this evening. (B)

Day 19 PARIS
Day at leisure to enjoy the beauties of the “City of Light.” Stroll along the Champs Elysées, lined with boutiques and cafes, or go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, built for the 1889 World’s Fair or visit one of the famouse museums. (B)


Day 20 DEPART PARIS
Bid adieu to Paris and prepare for your homeward flight. (B)
