Welcome to this wonderful tour
and cruise program combining Croatia’s magnificent Dalmatian Coast with
the glorious Alpine beauty of Slovenia’s Lake Bled. The small and intimate
MS “Arion” (maximum 280 passengers), while not luxurious, is the perfect
choice to explore smaller and less visited ports like Zadar, Kotor and
Ploce where bigger ships cannot dock.
2006 ITINERARY:
Day 1 Transfer TO RIJEKA Embarkation after 4 p.m.
Upon arrival to either Ljubljana (Slovenia) or Zagreb (Croatia)
airport , transfer to the Croatian port town of Rijeka where the MS Arion
is docked. If you have some free time, explore the bustling harbor town
which is famous for its carnival and the vivid Korzo promenade before you
meet your fellow travelers at your first onboard dinner. Evening welcome
cocktail will precede dinner. (D)
Day 2 PULA
Located on the opposite side of the bay from Rijeka, you will dock at
Pula early this morning. This city, famous for its manifold World Heritage
Sites, is considered one of the most stunning towns in the Istria region.
During your morning tour, you will visit the impressive Roman
amphitheatre, the Temple of Augustus, the Golden Gate (Porta Aurea), and
the Triumphal Arch. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore
on your own or purchase additional optional shore excursions which will
immerse you into the beauty and history of the Istria region to a greater
extent. (B, L, D)
Day 3 ZADAR
This historical city has a uniquely preserved ancient core. During
your sightseeing tour, marvel at the remains of the Roman Forum, the
Church of St. Donat, the Romanesque Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the Church
of St. Mary and the Benedictine Convent. Optional tours will include a
visit to the idyllic Plitvice Lakes National Park or Kornati Islands
National Park with a fish picnic (available for purchase on board). (B, L,
D)
Day 4 SPLIT/KORCULA
This morning, you arrive to Split, located at the center of Croatia’s
coastline. The second largest city in Croatia, Split gradually developed
around the Palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian, built more than 1700
years ago. Visit Diocletian’s cellars, the Cathedral of the Temple of
Jupiter, then continue to the Golden Gate (Porta Aurea), across the
Peristyle and the Market (Pjaca) to the sunny sea promenade (Riva). In the
afternoon, enjoy a tour of the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco
Polo; the historic town of Korcula, with its beautiful center, narrow
cobblestone streets, cafés, museums and churches. (B, L, D)
Day 5 DUBROVNIK
Today’s port of call is the charming city of Dubrovnik. During your
morning tour, you will pass the Franciscan and the Dominican Monastery,
Rector’s Palace, the “Stradun” pedestrian zone, the Grand City walls and
St. Blaise’s Church. Afterwards, you can explore on your own or decide
between several optional excursions that will be offered on board. (B, L,
D)
Day 6 KOTOR
Enjoy magnificent vistas as you sail through the stunning Kotor Bay,
the largest natural Fjord outside of Norway. The town of Kotor has
preserved a unique medieval atmosphere, surrounded with 20 meter high
walls that are up to 15 meters thick and 4.5 km long! At some points,
Kotor’s impressive fort reaches the height of over 250m. For those looking
for a good workout, there are 1426 stairs leading up to the Main Tower!
(B, L, D)
Day 7 PLOCE
Ploce is a commercial port located in central Dalmatia. Spend the day
at leisure exploring the town or take the optional tour to the famous old
city of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina. There, you will be able to see the
reconstructed “Old Bridge” built by the Turkish occupants more than 500
years ago. On the return you will also stop at the renowned Pilgrimage
site of Medjugorje. Tonight enjoy the festivities at your Captain’s Gala
Dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 8 RIJEKA-BLED
Time to say goodbye to the crew as you disembark after breakfast and
transfer to Bled, the Jewel of the Slovenian Alps. Along the way, you will
stop and tour the world renowned Postojna Caves, one of the largest
underground grottoes in the world. From there you will visit Slovenia’s
charming capital of Ljubljana. On arrival to Bled, check into your hotel
and enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers. (B, D)
Day 9 BLED
Morning sightseeing tour of this gorgeous Slovenian Alpine resort will
include a lakeside drive and a visit to the hilltop fortress. The
afternoon is free to explore on your own, take an optional excursion or
visit the Old Church situated on an island in the middle of the lake.
Dinner is on your own. (B)

on your own or partake in one of many optional tours that will be offerred
by your guide including tours to Piran, Portoroz, Trieste, Italy and
similar. (B)
