AMSTERDAM-BUDAPEST

Day 1. AMSTERDAM
Embarkation in Amsterdam starts from 4pm. Enjoy a welcome cocktail party before dinner is served on board. The ship remains moored overnight in Amsterdam.

Day 2. AMSTERDAM - UTRECHT
Morning city tour of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. You will see its most important buildings and monuments and learn much about the city's history. After enjoy cruising through its scenic canals. The ship leaves Amsterdam at midday and cruises south along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal through the southern Holland landscape to the old Hanseatic city of Utrecht. We join a bus tour to Utrecht and rejoin the ship at  12:30 for lunch. Afternoon sailing southbound to Cologne

Day 3. COLOGNE
Arrive in Cologne in the morning. Take part of the optional guided city walk of the city was founded by the Romans and was considered the most important Roman town beyond the Alpes. It has been an important trading center for many hundreds of years dominated by its vast Gothic cathedral, which was founded in 1248 as a pilgrimage church and now houses the relics of the three holy kings. In the afternoon excursion to the Seven Hills national park (Siebengebirge) dotted with castle ruins and Drachenfels Dragon Hill lands of ancient legends the place where Siegfried  the hero of the Nibelungen legends conquered the dragon. Admire the beautiful view of the Rhine Valley form the top of the hill. The ship departs continues sailing south on the Rhine.

Day 4. COLOGNE - OBERWESEL
Today we sail by the most romantic part of the Rhine passing by medieval castles and the famous Lorelei Rock, from where the legendary maiden of golden hair mesmerized sailors making them dive into their early death. Arrival at the town of scenic Oberwesel with its many half timbered typical houses and known for its many old towers. Waling tour of the town before boarding the ship for overnight sailing.

Day 5. MILTENBERG- WERTHHEIM
 In the early afternoon we arrive at Miltenberg, a small town on the river. Take part of an optional walking tour and see its narrow cobbled streets with gabled, half-timbered houses. Miltenberg’s sights include the historic church of Saint Johann Nepomuk and the “Gasthaus zum Riesen”, one of the oldest hotels in Germany. A coach then drives you to Wertheim, a charming fairy-tale place where you will have a walking tour. The vessel casts off from Wertheim in the evening.

Day 6. WUERZBURG
In the morning arrive at the historic city of Würzburg. Join our walking tour which includes a visit to the Residenz, the beautiful Baroque palace and famous for its great marble staircase and frescoes by the Venetian master, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. This tour ends with a wine tasting in a well-known vineyard. The ship leaves Würzburg in the afternoon.

Day 7. BAMBERG
Arrive at Bamberg in the early afternoon. A Unesco World Heritage site and a well preserved medieval city with  its very large number of historic buildings (2,300 of them)  These include the Gothic cathedral, the old and new episcopal
palaces and the old town hall, which is a quaint half-timbered structure on an island in the river Regnitz. Join the optional guided walking tour of the old quarter. We leave Bamberg in the afternoon and head south along the Main-Danube canal towards Nuremberg. Evening presentation on board on Rhine-Danube canal.

Day 8. NUREMBERG
In the very early morning arrive in Nuremberg. Optional sightseeing tour of this historic city. See the fairytale 900-year-old ramparts, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. Visit the city’s major sights, from its medieval origins to the present. In the afternoon there’ll be an optional excursion (Euro 35) to the southeast of Nuremberg, where Nazi party rallies were held from 1933 until 1938. The remains of the buildings with their immense proportions stand to this day as a vivid testimony to the megalomania of the National Socialist regime. The ship will depart from Nuremberg in the evening crossing the Continental Dovide.

Day 9.REGENSBURG
In the morning cruise along the final stretch of the fascinating Main-Danube Canal. Tour of the city of  Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. Visit the city’s architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria. In the evening there will be Bavarian Oktoberfest type entertainment on board the ship.

Day 10. PASSAU
After breakfast arrive in Passau, the Bavarian city where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Optional walking tour of the city, visit the old quarter of Passau with its many charming buildings. See the  St. Stephen's cathedral (which has the world's largest organ consisting of 17,974 pipes and 233 registers), the new Bishop's residence and the town hall. Afternoon the vessel departs towards the beautiful Wachau Valley.

Day 11. EMMERSDORF - MELK
Morning arrival in the Wachau district, after  cruised through the narrow Strudengau and docking in Melk / Emmersdorf during breakfast. Take  an interesting optional coach excursion through the Wachau (Euro 51), driving first to the 900-year old Benedictine abbey of Melk. On a guided tour you see the bishops’ rooms, the Emperor’s gallery, the marble hall, the altars and the library. Then drive through the picturesque scenery to Dürnstein, one of the best-known wine villages in the Wachau. At the end of the tour we invite you to taste a glass of local wines. In the late evening the ship continues downstream to Vienna (Austria’s capital). Arrival in the evening and attend the Sound of Vienna concert with Strauss and Mozart melodies.,

Day 12.  VIENNA
In the morning join our sightseeing tour of Vienna and visit its most important sights. Drive on the  Ringstrasse, into the Schwarzenbergplatz, passing by the Karlskirche and Vienna’s stunning opera house, where there’ll be time to visit the building or shop for souvenirs. Last stop is at the city’s famous St. Stephan’s cathedral, (possibility of visit inside). In the afternoon you can take an optional excursion to the Schoenbrunn castle, one of Vienna’s most beautiful buildings, Austria's Vesailles. The ship departs Vienna after midnight.

Day 13.
BRATISLAVA
We arrive to Slovakia at the early hours, docking at Bratislava for the day. You can join an optional city tour of Bratislava to discover the city’s major sights. From its 13th- century castle there are breathtaking views over the countryside where three countries - Slovakia, Austria and Hungary - meet. In the afternoon take our optional excursion to the Imperial Festival Palace Castle Hof with its magnificent Baroque buildings built in the early 18th century.  Tonight join the Captain's Gala dinner while the ship’s orchestra will, as usual, entertain everyone with its spirited playing. Departure towards Budapest at 8 p.m.

Day 14.
BUDAPEST
Morning arrival  at Budapest, Hungary’s famous capital lying on both sides of the Danube River. The city made up of two
parts: Buda and Pest, built on opposite banks of the Danube. Buda, with its cobbled streets and medieval architecture, is the older and more graceful part while Pest, with its wide avenues and impressive 19th-century public buildings, is the administrative and commercial center. East meets West in this fascinating city, which has an amazing variety of shops and restaurants. Joint the optional sightseeing tour  of Budapest which  takes you up to historic Buda Castlewith splendid views of both Buda and Pest. The tour includes the 500-year-old Matthias Church, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the distinctive Fishermen’s Bastion, the marvelous Royal Palace and much more. In the afternoon you can visit Castle Gödöllö with horseshow. After dinner  pass by the magnificently floodlit buildings on both sides of the river and under the illuminated chain bridge. A gypsy band will be playing with a performance by a Hungarian folklore group on board.

Day 15.
BUDAPEST
Disembarkation after breakfast in Budapest. End of the cruise. Optional stay in a Budapest spa or hotel
